[The Portugal News] Lota Cool Market closes another successful edition in Portimão
25 Agosto, 2026

The old fish market in Portimão was once again transformed into one of the Algarve’s most vibrant summer venues as Lota Cool Market returned for five evenings of food, music, shopping and creativity.
We visited on the final day, 19 July, and despite it being the last evening of the event, the atmosphere was just as lively as ever.

As the sun began to set over the Arade River, visitors wandered between dozens of stalls showcasing handmade jewellery, ceramics, artwork, fashion, home décor and locally made products. Many of the exhibitors were independent creators and small Portuguese businesses, which gave the market a personal feel that is often missing from larger events.
One of the things that makes Lota Cool Market stand out is that it feels much more like a summer festival than a traditional market. Throughout the evening, the stage kept visitors entertained with live performances, while children enjoyed the open spaces and activities designed for younger guests. It was easy to spend several hours simply walking around, enjoying international street food, discovering new local brands and soaking up the relaxed riverside atmosphere.
The event also continues to place emphasis on sustainability, encouraging visitors to bring reusable cups and supporting local producers and artisans whenever possible.
Although this year’s edition has now come to an end, Lota Cool Market once again proved why it has become one of the Algarve’s most anticipated summer events.
For anyone who missed it this year, it’s certainly an event worth adding to next summer’s calendar.
